Our annual year end event wrapped up last week at Optus Stadium, providing an opportunity for company leaders and professionals to come together and discuss current and developing remuneration challenges.

Another turbulent year of business, in which some companies faced never-before-seen obstacles, led us to structure these workshops to address some of the latest and most prevalent executive and employee reward and retention challenges under the theme, Changing gears – shifting reward in the new world of work”.

We segmented the day into three unique sessions, sharing our key insights on Australian remuneration practices in 2021 and trends for the year ahead.  

 

Morning Workshop

Executive Remuneration Trends: Public & Private Companies

This workshop explored current influences on executive remuneration, including the latest ASX remuneration insights on what’s being paid, incentives and shareholder responses.  The content also included: 

  • Sticky rem for private companies – incentive plans with an end in mind 
  • Measuring what matters in incentives – new metric ‘fads’ and new norms (e.g., ESG) 
  • Global executive remuneration – developments in the US and Europe to keep an eye on

Foundations of Board & Executive Remuneration

This training opportunity built on last year’s learning materials and provides attending professionals a chance to upskill and formalise their knowledge in the areas of board and executive remuneration.  

 

Afternoon Workshop

Attraction and Retention Strategies for a Competitive Market

 This workshop was our answer to the struggles companies are facing in the midst of “The Great Resignation”. Attendees shared their stories around current topics such as making flexible work ‘work’ for their business and whether or not pay transparency is an answer to their reward challenges.

Our presentation material provided a base premise for approaching retention strategy in our new world of work, including:   

  • Five pillars of reward for a great place to work 
  • Creating a point of difference with employee share plans 
  • Work from anywhere (WFA) pay strategies
